Prayer Update - January 2006

“Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, because the kingdom of God
belongs to such as these”     Luke 18:16
Hello and a very Happy New Year to you all!!  We hope you've had a really special Christmas and that 2006 is a good year for
you in every way.
On our second last day in Bolivia (26th December),
we had a special Christmas dinner planned for all the
children and families involved in the freedom kids
ministry.  This included the children from the prison
with their mums, the kids that have now left the prison
and live in the local area, the girls from the children’s
home, and we also invited a group from the local
drug rehab centre for young guys. We were able to
borrow the big truck from the church to go and collect
everyone and bring them to the dinner.

Looking back, the day before we left probably wasn't
the smartest time to plan a big event, but at least I'll
know better next time!!
The borrowed truck to get all the guests to
dinner on time!
A couple in the church catered the event and made a
wonderful dinner for the 170+ people who we shared
the evening with!  They made a typical Bolivian dish,
"Pollo Picante" (Spicy Chichen), which is chicken with
a spicy sauce accompanied by rice, pasta, a boiled
potato and chuño (a strange dehydrated potato
mixture that I think is pretty awful, but everyone else
likes it and it’s typical with this dish!)   Everyone
enjoyed the dinner and it was great to be able to
share a meal with so many children and families at
Christmas time and to be able to share the real
meaning of Christmas with them.
Time for Spicy Chicken!
After having a short worship time where the
children sang the songs they’ve learned at
church, we had dinner and then came the grand
entrance of Santa (aka Chicho!)

We had t-shirts made for every child with their
name on them and a verse on the back
(Luke 18:16) with a picture of Jesus and the
children. The adults received a daily devotional
book.  Every family had their photo taken with
Santa and we took them all home in the truck
afterwards.  It was a great night and everyone
had fun and enjoyed the fellowship.

Thank you so much to everyone who helped us make all this possible.  We really appreciate your support.
Looking forward to seeing you all and sharing more about the work while we’re here in Scotland.

With lots of love, Rachel and Chicho xx
