The Church - "El Jireh"
The church that we attend with the children is called “El Jireh” which means "The Lord will provide". This is a new church that has been the place of worship for its members for a year now. We have been part of this church with the freedom kids ministry since May 2006. At the moment, there are services every Sunday morning at 10.30am, followed by a community lunch and also a mid-week meeting for prayer and bible study. OANSA (AWANA children's bible club) started on the 19th August 2006, run by the pastor and young folk of the church. Please pray for this new church, the pastor, Victor Elias, its members, the children and also for the leader and children at the Oansa club.
The "El Jireh" Church
Between 40 and 60 children attend the church on a Sunday morning. The church services are held in a temporary small building made of planks of wood. The children leave for Sunday school after a worship time and the adults stay for bible teaching. The children have their Sunday School class outside under a big shady tree and are going through the book of Genesis and are currently learning about Abraham and Isaac. Right now they are all in one big class, but in the near future, the class is going to be split into smaller groups depending on age. Please pray for all these little children and that God would touch their lives through the bible teaching and worship time at church.

Lunchtime!
After the church service, everyone has lunch together. The ladies prepare “locro” which is a typical Bolivian lunch, similar to chicken soup, and it is cooked on a log fire during the service. As you can see, the children thoroughly enjoy their lunch, and it's the only time that this big group of children in quiet and not running wild!

There is a communion service after the bible teaching and during that time the children either play games or colour in until lunch time.

The Holiday Bible Club with the church in the background
The children were on holiday from school for the first 2 weeks of July and during this period, the church ran a holiday bible club for the children in the local area, from the church, the sports programmes and the freedom kids ministry. A consistent group of 70 enthusiastic children came every day. They sang praises to God, had a short Bible lesson, coloured in, had quizes, watched videos with Christian themes, played games and finished with juice and biscuits. They learned various new songs, which they've been singing ever since. Give thanks to God for the number of children who participated in this bible club, that they would remember what they learned and that these worship songs that they love singing would be sung in their home, at school, in the prison, and even walking down the street as a testimony!!

The Different Clubs in OANSA
On Saturday 19th August, an Oansa Club started at "El Jireh" OANSA is the Latin American part of the international AWANA ogranisation. The letters of AWANA are an acrostic which says "Approved Workers Are Not Ashamed" based on 2 Timothy 2 : 15. One of the main activities of OANSA is bible verse memorization and it's goal is to reach boys and girls with the gospel of Christ and prepare them for service. OANSA has 4 clubs - "ositos", "chispas", "llamas" and "antorchas" and is for children between the ages of 4 and 12. Our team of leaders is made up of young people from the church and each of the 4 clubs currently has around 2 leaders and assistent leaders to help them with their small group. The children meet on Saturday afternoons from 3-5pm and during that time there is a time of games, a large group time, with praise and worship and a bible lesson, and then small group time with their leader, where they work through a workbook, memorizing bible verses. This is a time for personal discipleship with the children and a chance to encourage them. They have a uniform for each club, a workbook and a sash which they attach their prizes to when they make progress in their workbook and learn their verses Please pray for the leaders as they prepare to start this club and for the children who will come along and participate in the activities. Pray that God will really work through these young people to reach out to children with the gospel.
